A Beveridge Curve is a graphical representation of the relationship between unemployment and the job vacancy rate (number of unfilled jobs). The job vacancy rate is represented on the vertical axis, while unemployment is represented on the horizontal axis. It is named after British economist William Beveridge. The Beveridge Curve usually slopes downwards, because when high job vacancy in the economy is accompanied by low unemployment. Similarly, a low job vacancy is accompanied by higher unemployment.
